  13. The only elemental metal that is liquid at room temperature. It has silvery-
  14. white color. Electricity discharged through mercury vapor produces a bluish 
  15. glow with lots of ultraviolet light; a property utilized in ultraviolet, 
  16. fluorescent, and mercury-vapor lamps. It is sometimes used in dental fillings. 
  17. Mercury is toxic. It can be lethal if the vapors are breathed, come in contact 
  18. with skin, or ingested as a soluable compound.
